Clearing Up the Confusion: What the Arizona Independent Party Is Doing Right

Some recent articles — including one from AZ Central — suggested that our transition from the No Labels Party of Arizona to the Arizona Independent Party (AIP) might confuse voters or create extra work for county election offices.
Let’s clear that up.
Our goal is to make this transition simple, transparent, and empowering for voters — especially the 1.4 million Arizonans who identify as independent.
We’re Already Reaching Out to our Voters.
We’ve contacted everyone registered with No Labels AZ to explain the name change and what it means. This includes updates on how the new name will appear on all voter materials moving forward.
*If you’re registered with the party but haven’t heard from us, please reach out and update your contact information so we can keep you informed.
Starting December 1st, all voter registration materials and ballots will list:
“Arizona Independent Party (AIP)”
Voters don’t need to take any action — the update is automatic.
The Process Is Easy, Standard, and Already in Motion
Name changes like this are routine for Arizona’s election offices. We’ve worked closely with counties and the Arizona Secretary of State, Adrian Fontes, to ensure all systems are updated correctly and on time. This transition does not create extra work.
We appreciate all the great work our election officials do. But in our conversations with bipartisan experts the work is minimal. It simply replaces one name with another — a normal administrative update and it’s been done many times before.
We’re Focused on Education, Awareness, and Clarity.
We are launching a statewide education campaign to help voters understand:
What the Arizona Independent Party stands for
How it differs from simply being “independent” or unaffiliated
How independents now have real access to the ballot
How they can step up and run for office through the AIP
Our social media, local events, and candidate outreach will ensure voters get accurate and helpful information.
If you ever see confusion, email us directly — we are committed to solving it together.

Why This Matters: Fairness, Access, and Opportunity
Let’s be honest:
The people most loudly opposing this change are the same partisans who defended the old rules — rules where:
Democrats and Republicans needed about 6,000 signatures to run for statewide office
Independents and unaffiliated voters needed over 45,000 signatures
This system effectively eliminated independent and unaffiliated Arizonans from running for office.
That wasn’t fair, and it wasn’t democratic.
Our recent statewide survey shows that independent voters support the Arizona Independent Party by a margin of 2-to-1.
Because they know exactly what we stand for. If you are an independent or unaffiliated voter, you finally have a party that gives you real access to the ballot. A real voice in Arizona’s future.
Our Mission: We Need Good People to Step Up
The Arizona Independent Party exists to give independent-minded Arizonans a real home in the political process.
And Arizona needs good people — people outside the partisan extremes — to step up and run.
This isn’t about the left or right.
It’s about leadership, cooperation, and putting Arizona first.
This Isn’t My Party — It’s Your Party
We’re doing the work:
Communicating with voters
Coordinating with election officials
Preparing strong candidates
Making the transition smooth, clear, and transparent
There’s no confusion.
There’s no extra work.
There’s only progress — toward a more open, more independent Arizona.
And now, for the first time in a long time, independents have a place to belong.
This isn’t my party. It’s your party.
And Arizona needs you.
